Artificial Absolutes gets a sequel!
I'm pleased to announce that Red Adept Publishing has accepted the sequel to Artificial Absolutes, titled Synthetic Illusions. Synthetic Illusions, the second book in a planned trilogy, deals with the fallout from the first book. Jane, Devin, Adam, and their hacker buddy, known online as Corsair, return for another adventure across the stars, one that leads them to question everything they know, including each other. Synthetic Illusions will be released mid 2014.
Introducing Flynn Nightsider!
I started writing the Flynn Nightsider series back in January 2012. Actually, I remember the exact date it came into existence: January 27. My sister, who was 15 at the time, and I were bored at a family party and started brainstorming ways to get famous. I wanted to be a writer; she wanted to be a performer (stage actress, film actress, singer... she just loves getting up in front of people and showing off her talents). I started describing this idea I had for a dystopian fantasy series, and she told me I should make the main girl character look like her so she could play her in a movie version someday. The next thing I knew, the ideas spiraled out of my head, with Angel feeding the flames, and I walked out of that party with a phone full of notes. Even though the series is about Flynn, the character Angel inspired, Aurelia "the Firedragon" Sun, quickly became central to the plot. (Fun fact: "Firedragon" is one of Angel's nicknames).
Last summer, I was lucky enough get a contract with the fantastic Glass House Press, a small publisher specializing in speculative fiction for teens. We've now set a release date: March 11, 2014.
Now comes one of my favorite parts: cover art! Glass House is working with the talented Romanian artist Ionut Caras, who will be designing covers for the five book series. You can see a teaser for the Book 1 cover in the banner above (designed by the lovely Alivia Anders). Later this month, we'll be having a photo shoot with the cover models right here in Princeton, New Jersey. Angel helped pick our Flynn from among her talented classmates, and she will, of course, be posing as Aurelia. Can't wait to show you guys the final cover when it's ready!
